General settings for IMAP account configuration

Microsoft Office Outlook 2010 - IMAP account configuration

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the File menu, click Info and click Account Settings.
  3. Select Account Settings from the list.
  4. On the E-mail tab, click New and Select Email Account, and then click Next
  5. Click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
  6. Click Internet E-Mail, and then click Next.
  7. In the Server Information section, select IMAP for Account Type.
  8. In the Your Name box, enter your name exactly as you want it to appear to recipients.
  9. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
  10. In the User Name box, type your account name.
  11. In the Password box, type your password.
  12. In the Incoming mail server box, type imap.rediffmailpro.com
  13. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.rediffmailpro.com .

Before clicking Next please click More Settings and make sure that the settings are the ones as shown in the next steps.

  1. In the General tab, enter your name and a reply email address. Usually, this is the same as your email address.
  2. Click the Outgoing Server tab. If you are using this service's server for sending email, select the option: My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  3. Select "My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication"
  4. Click the Advanced tab. Verify that the port numbers are set to Incoming = 143 and Outgoing 587.
  5. To sync sent mails also, select Sent items tab.
  6. Enable the option 'Save sent items in following folder on the server'
  7. Select 'Sent' folder to save your sent mails
  8. Click OK and then click Finish.
  9. Click Next when you've finished entering these details.
  10. Outlook will now test the settings you've entered. Click Close when it's finished.
  11. Click the Send/Receive button (it's at the top left side of the Outlook 2010 window as shown in the image below) and your email will be downloaded to your mailbox

Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 IMAP account configuration

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  3. Click New.
  4. Click Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP, and then click Next.
  5. In the Auto Account Setup dialog box, click to select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types check box, and then click Next.
  6. Click Internet E-Mail, and then click Next.
  7. In the Server Information section, select IMAP for Account Type.
  8. In the Your Name box, enter your name exactly as you want it to appear to recipients.
  9. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
  10. In the User Name box, type your account name.
  11. In the Password box, type your password.
  12. In the Incoming mail server box, type imap.rediffmailpro.com.
  13. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.rediffmailpro.com.

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and earlier versions of Outlook IMAP account configuration

  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
  3. Under E-mail Accounts, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
  4. Click IMAP as the type of account that you are creating, and then click Next.
  5. In the Your Name box, enter your name exactly as you would like it to appear to recipients.
  6. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
  7. In the User Name box, type your account name.
  8. In the Password box, type your password.
  9. In the Incoming mail server (IMAP) box, imap.rediffmailpro.com.
  10. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, smtp.rediffmailpro.com

18. Click the Send/Receive button (it's at the top left side of the Outlook 2010 window as shown in the image below) and your email will be downloaded to your Inbox.

As Outlook 2003 and previous do not have support for assigning a Sent Items folder at the mail account level, we must emulate it via a message rule;

  1. Open the rules dialog via;
    Tools-> Rules and Alerts...
  2. If you see a dropdown list at the top, make sure it is set to the Inbox of the IMAP account.
  3. Click the New button to start with a new rule.
  4. Select the option; Start from a blank rule
  5. Select Check messages after sending.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select the option; through the specified account
  8. Click on "specified" at the bottom of your screen and select your IMAP account.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Select the option; move a copy to the specified folder
  11. Click on "specified" at the bottom of your screen and select 'Sent' folder in your the IMAP account.
  12. Click OK when you get the warning about the folder not supporting Unicode (IMAP accounts in Outlook 2003 doesn't have support for Unicode).
  13. Finish.

Symbian phones IMAP configuration

  1. Select 'Messaging' > 'Options' > 'Settings' > 'E-mail' > 'Mailboxes.'
  2. If you are setting email account for first time, select 'Yes' to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select 'Options' and then 'New mailbox.'
  3. Select 'Start'
  4. Select 'IMAP4' and then 'Next.'
  5. Enter your username (eg. name@companydomain.com) as the email address and select 'Next.'
  6. Enter 'imap.rediffmailpro.com' as the incoming mail server and select 'Next.'
  7. Enter 'smtp.rediffmailpro.com' as the outgoing mail server and select 'Next.'
  8. Select the access point for internet and then 'Next.'
  9. Enter a name for the email account mailbox name.
  10. Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.
  11. Select 'Connection settings' > 'Incoming e-mail.'
  12. Enter your username (name@companydomain.com) and password.
  13. Define your port as '143'
  14. Select 'Back.'
  15. Select 'Outgoing e-mail.'
  16. Enter your username (name@companydomain.com) and password.
  17. Define your port as '587'
  18. Select 'Back' and change any other settings according to your preferences.
  19. Your setup is complete and you are ready to access mails on your phone.

Android phones IMAP configuration

  1. In applications, touch Email
  2. If you are setting email account for first time, touch Create new account. If you already have other mailboxes, touch menu and select add account
  3. You will get a screen to select email service provider. Touch 'Other'
  4. Enter complete email address and password
  5. Select Push enable
  6. Enter name of the IMAP account and touch Next
  7. Select IMAP4 and touch Next
  8. Enter 'imap.rediffmailpro.com' as the incoming mail server and select 143 port
  9. Select secure type as off and touch Next
  10. Enter 'smtp.rediffmailpro.com' as the outgoing mail server and select 587
  11. Select secure type as off
  12. Enable 'SMTP authentication'
  13. Enable 'Same id and password as incoming server' and touch Next
  14. Your Phone will try to connect to internet and verify details. On successful verification, your setup is complete and you are ready to access mails on your phone.

Blackberry phones IMAP configuration

  1. On the Home screen, select E-mail Settings.
  2. If you're asked to log in:
    1. Enter your Blackberry user name.
    2. Enter your Blackberry password.
    3. Select Log In.
  3. In the next screen, select Add Email account.
  4. In the next screen, select Other
  5. In the next screen:
    1. Enter your e-mail address.
    2. IMPORTANT! Enter an wrong password at this point. You'll be asked for the correct one later.
      WHY? Entering your correct password now would configure your e-mail account in the POP e-mail protocol. Instead, this step forces your BlackBerry to use the correct IMAP protocol.
    3. Select Next.
  6. Your device will spend a few moments trying to connect to server and authenticate you. Since you have entered wrong password, your device will present you unable to configure screen.
  7. In the unable to configure screen:
    1. Select I will provide the settings to configure this email account.
    2. Scroll down to select Next.
  8. In the second unable to configure screen:
    1. Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP).
    2. Enter your e-mail address.
    3. Enter your Account name.
    4. Enter your password.
    5. Scroll down to enter into the Email Server field, imap.rediffmailpro.com
    6. Select Next
  9. Select new account you just added and select edit
  10. In next screen, select advanced option
    1. Make sure that server name is mentioned as imap.rediffmailpro.com
    2. Uncheck SSL option. This will change the port number to 143
    3. Select Ok
  11. Your setup is complete and you are ready to access mails on your phone.

iPhone IMAP configuration

To Set up Email on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. On the Settings screen, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. Select IMAP
  7. Enter your Name, email Address, Password, and a short Description for your email. Tap Next.
  8. Enter 'imap.rediffmailpro.com' as the incoming mail server name.
  9. Enter 'smtp.rediffmailpro.com' as outgoing mail server name and tap Next
  10. Your phone will now verify settings you entered. It may take couple of minutes depending on your network speed.
  11. Your phone may show a dialog box asking whether you want continue without SSL. Tap Yes
  12. Tap Save. Your setup is complete and you are ready to access mails on your phone.

General settings for IMAP configuration

  1. While adding a new account, select IMAP
  2. Enter Your Name, (enter your name exactly as you want it to appear to recipients.)
  3. In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail address.
  4. In the User Name box, type your account name.
  5. In the Password box, type your password.
  6. Specify incoming server name as imap.rediffmailpro.com and port as 143
  7. Specify Outgoing mail server (SMTP) as smtp.rediffmailpro.com and port as 587
  8. Make sure that you have checked Outgoing Server Authentication
