Backup and restore overview

The control panel performs a full backup of your data in compressed format. A compressed backup reduces the file size to approximately 30% of the original file size.

You can back up and restore the following data.

• Site data

• User data

• Note: You must have FTP access to back up and restore files.

Known issues in backup and restore

• A full backup consumes tremendous CPU and memory resources.

• The MySQL password is backed up as metadata; however, the password is not restored if a site is migrated between servers.

• The control panel does not back up site statistics.
